Audra and Vijay, The Portofino Hotel

Back at one of our favorite locations – The Portofino Hotel and Marina to experience the second wedding event for our friends Audra and Vijay. The bride looked absolutely stunning in her short floral wedding dress! We enjoying seeing all the guests from the night before in such different attire and ready to celebrate some more!

After Audra & Vijay read their custom vows to each other, the celebration began. Even though this was a more customary themed reception, little hints of their Indian culture were present in the wedding favors and the baskets of gifts available for the women. A traditional wedding cake was the centerpiece of the room. The stunning cherry blossom decorations from Torrance Bakery were so beautiful.

It was a great party and definitely a family affair. The Charming Little Event Company was thrilled and honored to be part of such memorable evenings with Audra and Vijay and their family and friends. We wish you many years of harmony, joy and laughter!

Audra and Vijay, Palos Verdes Private Estate

On this beautiful Friday evening in Palos Verdes The Charming Little Event Company had the unique privilege of coordinating the cultural ceremony of Audra and Vijay. What an honor it was to be witnesses to such tradition. We were first in awe of how beautiful the amazing views were at this home but more importantly the stunning attire from the guests stole your attention. The most vibrant colors permeated the scene from each outfit to the decorative décor.

After the guests took part in a traditional Pooja ceremony they enjoyed some delicious food from Manohar’s Delhi Palace. The wonderful aromas of the Indian food were inviting the guests back for seconds and thirds. After dinner what a treat it was to see the talents being displayed in the Sangeet ceremony. There was singing, dancing, instruments played all to the rhythm of love for the couple. A gorgeous evening on many levels.

Thank you Audra, Vijay and your families for the experience and for sharing your beautiful culture with The Charming Little Event Company.

Donna and Tim are a very special couple and the The Charming Little Event Company was lucky enough to be a part of their intimate event. They had a beautiful ceremony at Mariners Church in Irvine. This is a gorgeous location that lends itself to breathtaking photos. For the reception guests headed over to Fig and Olive in Newport Beach. A hip and top-rated restaurant, which was the perfect place for such a reception. Immediately when you enter you are taken into a Mediterranean oasis with real olive trees inside, a courtyard, lush greenery and tranquil spaces.

The floral accents by Greenleaf Designs were stunning with their array of color. From orange, and lavender to yellow, white and green – they were definitely a focal point that commanded your attention. Guests picked up their escort cards from a garden trellis, adorned with fresh herbs and pretty greenery.  One of our favorites was the kid’s table complete with markers, crafts and all the items a kid would need to be entertained.  We love when we see a twist on wedding favors and Donna and Tim surprised guests when each one was given a special card letting them know that a donation had been made in their honor to Life Impact International on their behalf, along with hand made key chains in a variety of designs. It’s truly touching to see such selflessness being modeled on such a special day.

Donna and Tim, thank you for letting The Charming Little Event Company walk with you on your journey today. We wish you many blessings as you begin your new life together.

Here’s To A Charming New Year!

Writing that 2012 was challenging would be a complete understatement.  However, along with those challenges came an abundance of blessings!  I feel so lucky to be doing what I love, along with the best of the best clients, vendors and our team.  It sounds like every Wedding Planner says this but I truly feel my couples are the BEST!!!  Not only working with these brides and grooms, but forming friendships that will endure.

Thank you to everyone who has helped us Plan, Design and Coordinate events with a fierce passion just like ours.  Here’s to a beautiful, blessed and happy new year.

Some 2012 highlights:

* Added Lana to our team to help with design elements and brother – she is good!

* Came back to my office space with some of the best women in the industry

* Honored to have been added to a few more venue preferred vendor lists – yay!

* Didn’t get a non-profit event that I spend the MOST hours prepping for, however, the experience gained was so beneficial that I felt as if I did get the work

* Proudly took my baby girl to first grade (I still cannot believe it). And took my baby boy to his last year of preschool before Kinder.

* Battled a scary and awful life situation for almost an entire year – thank you God for getting us all through it – and making me stronger at the end

* Worked at some of our favorite and new-to-us venues such as: Marriott Newport Beach, Peninsula Beverly Hills, Trump National Golf Club, Bella Collina

* Seriously, I have been so lucky and every day of the year had its own shareable moment.  Too bad I can’t list them all.

Charming Events in 2010

Happy New Year!

I haven’t blogged in quite a while but you will see lots of Twitter updates (so much quicker and easier to do!).  I LOVE posting on my blog so I promise to keep up my visual updates as well.

2010 is turning out to be a fantastic year with goals already being met such as my 5k run, which I completed yesterday.  Never really thought I could do or want to do such a thing but I am hooked!

One thing I realized just recently was that the mentors and colleagues I looked to for inspiration had a couple things in common: Faith in a higher power and a passion for taking care of themselves.  Pretty much love of God, faith and an active lifestyle.  All things I practiced “once in a while” but didn’t place on the top of my list.

I look forward to a wonderful, healthy, and loving 2010 with my friends, family and clients.  Thank you to all of our brides and grooms have chosen Charming Events to help plan and ensure their wedding days.  We are so excited to be there for you!

p.s. I came in at #463 at the 5k, which is completely thrilling to me especially since there were 817 runners!  My next run is in February and my goal is to bump up my place in line.

Traditions – Your Way

I read somewhere that the top 5 T-day traditions are:

1) Eating turkey and and all the trimmings (have you tried a deep-fried version yet?  It’s good!)

2) Watching football

3) NYC’s Macy’s parade

4) Making a wish over breaking the wishbone

5) Giving thanks

Since starting my own family, I have chosen to keep some traditions that I learned through my parents, and I have let some go.

Some traditions I kept: Opening one present on Christmas Eve, taking my kids to church, Sitting at the table for dinner and trying to have a conversation, visiting Vegas several times a year for no particular reason and picking names for my kiddos that start with the same letter (T)

Some traditions I dropped: Having one Thanksgiving meal a day and driving around to various homes, Enjoying Sunday morning donuts (I should bring that back), and leaving our house way too early on Christmas morning to go somewhere else.

Traditions are made by you in your every day life routines.  They don’t necessarily have to be related to holidays, but that is what we think of primarly when talking ‘tradition shop.’

Try bringing your favorite traditions into your special events.  What better way to personalize a wedding or other life celebration than to incorporate little pieces of you and your significant other, family and friends.

Yes, guests will whisper behind your back and think you are just crazy for choosing to do things differently.  But, this is your time and your true self should shine!

If you like to have dessert before your dinner, go for it!  Ghasp!  Yes, I know, the horrible things people will say but will your event be remembered by all and be discussed for a very long time?  You know it!

Tired of the “what are you thankful for” pieces of paper that you throw into a bowl and read year after year?  Have a photo or video booth-type set-up where guests can take pictures, be recorded, or write a note and place into a book.

Taking risks and doing things “your way” is encouraged!  Think outside the box, find what truly makes you happy and giddy, recall your favorite childhood moments (lemon heads, bike rides and slumber parties for me!), and dare to make your event your own.

Holiday Photography That Is So Sweet

I didn’t personally know baby Allison Zicree, but I knew of her.  I was told that she was very ill and trying to fight for her little life due to a battle with leukemia.  The Zicree family is having to deal with not only the task of getting through life without their baby, but to face the financial struggles due to this tragedy.

My friend and Photographer, Lisa from Lisa Marie Figueroa Photography is offering holiday sessions, which will benefit the Zicree family.
