I Do or I Don’t!

Introducing a new series, here at the Charming Events blog – I Do or I Don’t!

I come across lots of new trends and fresh ideas through vendors, magazines, trade shows, events and almost everywhere inspiration finds me – it’s lots of fun!  Some things have me saying definitely and some, well, not so much!

I’m going to showcase various items and leave it up to you: I Do? or I Don’t!?  Would you love this item or leave it and why?

Today’s discovery:

Evian

Designer Christian Lacroix’s “Pret-a-Porter” bottle adds a touch of romance to Evian water bottles with a lace pattern.  Made of glass, and a limited edition, they are $13.95 a piece or $118.00 for a case of 12.

Me, The Wedding Guest!

Saturday night – Rancho Las Lomas.  Beautiful ceremony (barely missed the rain), delicious cocktail spread, hosted bar with beer & the best red wine and a yummy buffet.

Yes, I was actually a guest at a fabulous wedding!  I have worked at Rancho Las Lomas as a Coordinator so I was very much looking forward to being able to sit & relax.  And that I did!  My husband and I had such a great time, one of the best weddings we have ever attended!

Congratulations to Jao & Tom.

My compliments to the superb caterer – 24 Carrots – a fellow ABC member, for providing the mouth-watering appetizers (among my favorites were tiger shrimp on sugar cane skewers with sweet chili sauce, cheese platters with olive garnish and candied pecans, pulled-pork sliders with cilantro and corn garnish on sweet bread, roasted vegetables, and a very tasty buffet dinner).

A New Look

I am so excited to launch the new & improved Charming Events website!  It has been way too long since a refresh of our look and i’m happy to say the wait is over and you will get a glimpse of our new style within the next few days.  All the technical “stuff” is done and we now just need to wait for the actual transfer.

Unfortunately, along with the change comes a total loss of e-mail!  I am NOT able to receive any e-mails to the charmingevent.com addresses.  So, please forward any e-mail to michellert@cox.net or feel free to call me.  Once my website is up and running, e-mail will be back to normal.

I would love your feedback on the new site, so please feel free to share your thoughts when you see it!

Here is a sneak peak for ya:

I HEART Valentine’s Day

Guess what special day is creeping up on us?  The lovely but sometimes not so exciting Valentine’s day.  Make your romantic dinner or all friends party a fabulous event!

A plus for me and maybe for you, as well, is all the red you brought out for the holidays can be used at this time too.  I have the most darling red votive holders and shiny red charger plates, which I can definitely incorporate into my February Valentine style.

I’m also loving these arrangements and decor ideas from Martha Stewart’s website.

Candy bag favors (or use them as place settings)

Hot-hot long table centerpieces.  Add more votives for a more romantic feel.

Tea bag tags for after-dinner treats or use as favors by placing tea bags in pink or red gift-card size envelopes

Flower vases filled with conversation hearts.  Use red-hots (candy) for a deeper red color and enjoy eating them after the party!

No wires or tricky put-together hardware for this charming bunch of roses.  Just cut stems short and place into tiny vases/containers and shape into a heart.  Voila!

Happy New Year

This post comes after the official new year but I wanted to post a little something anyway!

Thank you so much to all of my fabulous brides, grooms, families, friends and everyone else who allowed me to be part of their special 2008 days.  I am so lucky to have THE best clients that pretty much always turn out to be dear friends that I keep in touch with for years.

I also want to thank the super-talented vendors I had the chance to work with again or for the very first time in 2008.  It is so refreshing to meet other professionals that are truly passionate about what they do while staying down-to-earth and happy!

2009 will bring some great change to Charming Events including some top notch advertising, a website re-do, and many new event locations.  I look forward to sharing photos and stories during the months ahead.
