My, How You’ve Changed!

I found some very interesting data sent to me by the Association of Bridal Consultants about the changes in weddings from today and 50 years ago.  Yours for a fun read!

According to the AARP, they compiled these statistics:

Year: 1958

Number of weddings: 1.5 million

Gown cost: $135

Bride’s age: 20

Groom’s age: 22

Slice of cake: $.35

Honeymoon cost: $237

Year: 2008

Number of weddings: 2.4 million

Gown cost: $1,317

Bride’s age: 26

Groom’s age: 28

Slice of cake: $4.52

Honeymoon cost: $3,680

The most trendy gift in 1958 was a CorningWare casserole!  Trendy?  That is too funny.  Today, the 2008 gift of choice is the Nintendo Wii game (now that’s a fun gift!).
